happy easter all!

though i was a bit sad i could not spend it with my biological family in pop-pop's sun room eating ham, my holiday was good nevertheless. on good friday we had a huge potluck feast in royal lodge which was delicious and a great time to bond with our cape town family. this morning i was so inspired by the thought of the resurrection that i went for a run. yes. jamie weist jogged through the streets of mowbray -until i noticed a scary man behind me. then i sprinted all the way back to royal lodge. sooo thank you, scary man, for that extra push of cardio. and thank you god for actually motivating me to exercise. i just returned from an evening service at church on main. it was awesome. the holy spirit was so present and the fellowship was great and comforting as always. love it there!

good grief i haven't even written about autumn break on this thing. well, as i said before, i got a hop-on, hop-off bus ticket and traveled along the garden route (aka most beautiful string of towns and nature in the world). granted, i haven't seen much of the world but you get the picture. so to sum up the trip in a nutshell i will just say, lots of laughing, dried fruit, horses, dogs, wilderness, knysna tim, the urinator, billy madison quotage, swimming in waterfalls and the world's highest bungy jump. i had the time of my life. but wait- there's more! upon my return to cape town i saw elton john live in the botanical gardens- on his birthday! it was such a great time and he sang circle of life. so beautiful. annnnddd the day after that i met my mom and sister in joburg and we went on game drives and had a grand time. the animals were amazing and it was an incredible experience going into the park really early and seeing the sun rise. the elephants and zebras were probably the best. the elephants because they were insanely plural and close. and the zebras because they were zebras. after the game drives we went back to cape town and painted the town red. so all in all, fall break = literally the time of my life.

life right now is relatively normal. biology is terrible but friends, mountains and times are great. oh but i actually just heard tonight that the head of the afrikaans party was assassinated by members of the anc and supposedly, the afrikaans party is be plotting a counter assassination (which could end up to be jacob zuma, the president). from a terribly pessimistic position, a civil war could potentially break out. SO. be praying for the country, its leaders and meee please!

i am off to bed now because i'm hiking lions head mountain for sunrise tomorrow. yippeee! finally a hike!
